Help

Use Season Atlas as one coaching system instead of a stack of separate sheets.

This page is the working guide for how the site fits together. Roster, test pieces, rankings, planning, calendar, optimizer, and imports all feed one another, so the goal is to enter data once and reuse it everywhere.

Getting Started

Recommended order

1. Build or import your roster first so the rest of the site knows who is active, injured, archived, novice, varsity, women, men, and coxswain.

2. Add test history in Test Pieces so PRs and recent results feed rankings and the optimizer automatically.

3. Use Rankings to tune how athletes are scored in Fall, Spring, or Custom weighting.

4. Use Planner for weekly practice boats and Optimizer for race-style varsity and JV lineup decisions.

5. Keep Calendar and Practice Schedule updated so the team plan lives in the same place as the athlete data.

Roster

Store athlete and coxswain records.

Roster is the source of truth for athlete identity, squad, graduation year, side, injuries, notes, and technique or cox evaluation scores.

Coxswains appear in both men’s and women’s roster views. Archived athletes stay in history but are removed from active lineup tools.

Open Roster

Test Pieces

Track history by piece and date.

Test Pieces stores 2k, 6k, 30m, and other historical results by athlete and date.

PR and Recent values flow from this page into Rankings and the Optimizer, and manual roster PRs can backfill the test sheet when full history is missing.

Open Test Pieces

Rankings

Score athletes relative to teammates.

Each rower is ranked against teammates in 7 categories: PR 2k, Recent 2k, PR 6k, Recent 6k, PR 30r20, Recent 30r20, and Overall Technique.

Spring, Fall, and Custom profiles apply different weighting percentages to those category scores. Coxswains are ranked separately using cox evaluation scores.

Open Rankings

Optimizer

Compare varsity and JV race lineups.

The optimizer builds race-oriented varsity and JV combinations with no athlete overlap, then compares them side by side.

Projected time is a benchmark comparison model based on boat class, distance, experience level, program baseline, weather, and lineup quality. Historical race comparisons below the lineups are driven by imported regatta results.

Open Optimizer

Planner

Build practice boats and track involvement.

Planner is for weekly practice work, not projected race times. Use it to drag athletes into boats, track absences, and make sure rowers are getting included.

Varsity Women, Varsity Men, and Novice each keep separate stored practice boards for each day.

Open Planner

Calendar

Track events across the month.

Calendar is for races, travel, team events, and multi-day event blocks. Use the plus button to add events and click existing events to edit them.

Calendar also supports schedule imports so season events can be loaded in bulk.

Open Calendar

Practice Schedule

Set one weekly template per season.

Practice Schedule stores weekly plans by season label, like Fall 2025 or Spring 2026, and lets you move between them from the season dropdown.

You can assign one practice to multiple squads, filter visible squads, and edit practices from the popup form.

Open Practice Schedule

Equipment

Track shells and oars separately.

Equipment lets you add shells and oars through separate entry paths, store assignment and weight-class information, and archive equipment without deleting it.

Concept2 oar details can be tracked by discipline, blade, shaft, grip, and set information.

Open Equipment

Imports

Use bulk uploads when data already lives in spreadsheets.

Imports supports Schedule, Race Results, Test Pieces, Roster, and Rankings uploads with matching templates.

Those imports update the right area of the site directly, so calendar events, historical comparisons, athlete records, and ranking inputs can all be maintained in bulk.
